Our lionesses now rightfully reign,
Making history, they’ve won the Euros again.
Sarina’s grand plan proved to be right,
As they pulled themselves through a nail-biting fight.
Not a good start, to France we lost,
Would Group Stage exit be the cost?
But we held on, beating the Dutch – Four: Nil,
With a win against Wales showing some skill.
The knockout phase proved mighty tough,
Each round asking, ‘Are we good enough?’
Twice Agyemang managed to make it equal,
With Extra Time the nerve-wracking sequel.
And so we reached the grand final game,
Destined to bring many moments of fame.
This time it was Russo who drew us level,
What a great header – get ready to revel.
Of course, it came down to penalty shots!
Who would miss? Who’d hit the spot?
Heroic Hampton saved some more,
Then Kelly aced that final score.
Our gals rolled gleefully in the glitter,
The Spanish looked on, gloomy and bitter.
For the second time Leah lifted the cup,
Proof our team players never give up.
They vowed to party, who knows ‘til when,
Then up for a reception at Number 10.
Tuesday brought that open bus ride,
A chance for us all to show our pride.
The Mall was filled with a massive crowd,
All waving flags and singing loud.
We won because we believed we could,
‘Sweet Caroline’ never sounded so good.
