The cause of all our troubles is the global credit crunch,
We played FTSE with our fortunes, and now we mourn the mess,
We blame it on the bankers for they are a rotten bunch.
No longer can we linger over that cosy client lunch,
We have no choice, we have to change and learn to live on less –
The cause of all our troubles is the global credit crunch.
Turning total wealth to toxic waste – was it a gamble or a hunch?
Or maybe our demand for more was the dawn of their excess.
Let’s blame it on the bankers – they are a rotten bunch.
Shops shut their doors for ever as their sales go slide and scrunch,
Jobs for life – not anymore – that’s the cost of our success;
The cause of all our troubles is the global credit crunch.
Let’s stop their pay and pensions – the perfect killer punch,
Or perhaps our politicians were just panicked by the press?
We blame it on the bankers for they are a rotten bunch.
Are those the roots of our recovery or the wilted weeds of wunsch?
We could always ask the experts, but it’s much easier to guess.
The cause of all our troubles is the global credit crunch;
Let’s blame it on the bankers – they are a rotten bunch.
